The relocation of Arimasu Tobiru, a particular architectural landmark on Hijirizaka in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, was carried out between August and October after almost twenty years of building.
Architect Keisuke Oka started constructing the bolstered concrete construction in 2005 as his personal residence, designing it as a slim, compact dwelling with 4 flooring above floor and one under on a website of simply 40 sq. meters. Guided by his imaginative and prescient of “creating something that dances,” Oka infused the challenge with improvisational design parts, leading to exterior partitions embellished with uncommon patterns and protrusions.
Although Arimasu Tobiru turned a widely known native landmark, ongoing redevelopment within the surrounding space pressured its relocation earlier than building was accomplished. The transfer was carried out in two phases — first eastward after which southward — successfully shifting the constructing to the southeast.
