As NTT Docomo and KDDI transfer to lift their cell phone charges, SoftBank has additionally revealed it’s contemplating the same hike.
SoftBank President Junichi Miyagawa acknowledged, “It is likely the right time to reconsider pricing for the healthy growth of the industry.”
With rivals Docomo and KDDI each asserting will increase to their main service plans, Miyagawa emphasised that the timing is acceptable for SoftBank to evaluate its pricing technique.
Since Rakuten Mobile’s full-scale entry into the market in 2020, the telecommunications sector has been engaged in a protracted price-cutting battle. This pattern was spurred partially by the administration of then-Prime Minister Suga, which made decreasing cell phone fees a key coverage initiative.
