The Art of Sustainability: A Claymation Journey Through the 17 SDGs

OSAKA, Feb 08 (News On Japan) –
Since June 2019, Isobe has been creating works that categorical the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by means of clay animation movies. This weekend, a solo exhibition “Marumushi Shoten Isobe’s Clay Animation World” by Marumushi Shoten’s Isobe might be held at LAUGH & PEACE ART GALLERY OSAKA.

The exhibition will showcase all 17 works, which took 4 and a half years to finish.

Isobe commented on the exhibition, saying, “When people hear about the SDGs, they might think it’s ‘difficult’ or ‘what on earth is that?’. I continued to create these works with the hope that they would serve as an easy-to-understand conversation starter about the SDGs for children. At the same time, I wanted to express the coexistence of animals and plants with humans on Earth, which you’ll find appearing here and there in the works.”

In addition to his assertion in regards to the exhibition, Isobe mirrored on the artistic course of: “It took four and a half years to start and complete these works. As I researched each goal and target for the project, I learned how privileged I am to live my life as I do, and how many people in unknown parts of the world are enduring harsh living conditions. It was a very educational experience. While my technique in creating these works is still a work in progress, I would be delighted if many people come to see them.”

Exhibition “Marumushi Shoten Isobe’s Clay Animation World” Dates: February ninth (Friday) to February twelfth (Monday, substitute vacation), 2024 Hours: 13:00 – 18:00 Venue: LAUGH & PEACE ART GALLERY OSAKA Admission: Free
